This trek in one word offers you the best of trekking and enjoying the views. We started at 6 am from our hotel. Our driver Dipu and guide Robin Rai are an excellent combination. They all cd converse in English, and look after your needs at all times. All was explained at the beginning ie the trek wd start after Manebhanjan from Dhotrey where we had breakfast with chappati and Sabzee and tea and omelette. Washroom made available. Then a trek upwards to the Tonglu peak for 6 km. A walking stick is recommended. That is the Indo-Nepal border. We had tea from the homestay all arranged by the guide, Rabin.
Then the trek was basically downhill for 9 km. Lunch from another homestay as arranged by Robin was Hakka Veg Chow which was freshly done and yummy. We could not see Kanchenjunga as it was very cloudy. But the trek was a unique experience. We had lots of Black tea at each stop. A washroom is available at each stop. We came down to Chitrey at Manebhanjan. So a superb trek with a superb guide Rabin Rai.

I was in Darjeeling recently and was able to connect with Subash at Ashmita Tours. Me and my companions ended up doing two tours with Subash. On our first day, we got the opportunity to visit a local tea plantation (and have a tasting), the Himalayan Mountain Institute, and the Tibetan Refugee Center. We also took a long nature walk above the city, which isn't something a lot of other tour companies are doing. We ended at a Buddhist temple and were really the only ones there, which gave us an opportunity to meditate and enjoy the peace and quiet. The second day we got up quite early to try and catch the sunrise on Tiger Hill. Mother Nature, unfortunately, had other plans as it was quite foggy, but once it was light out, we took a long nature walk through an animal reserve, seeing lots of beautiful trees/nature/birds/flowers along the way. We later visited a Hindu temple, before climbing quite a few stairs to get to a Buddhist monastery. We were so lucky to arrive when the monks were chanting. We were welcomed in and sat in the floor listening to their mesmerizing chants, and were given some butter tea to enjoy as well. It was an incredible experience. We did a lot of nature walking this particular day, and eventually found ourselves at Subash's friend's house where we were served an absolutely scrumptious breakfast on a rooftop looking out over the mountains. Once we were fueled up, we continued our walk and got to visit a Sherpa graveyard and another beautiful Buddhist temple before getting back into town. Both days were really amazing, and Subash took great care of us, looking after us both days. I highly recommend booking with Ashmita Trek and Tours if you are in Darjeeling. You won't be disappointed.

Subash was an amazing guide. Even with bad weather we were able to see everything and enjoy every part of the day, with anecdotes and interesting facts, and also his contagious happiness! The tour is very full of different experiences, and also some places that you would never find alone. The day flew by very quickly, and we were all truly satisfied by every aspect of it. And in the end the best surprise, a panoramic hike with the best view ever! Highly recommended!

I had a great hike to Tonglu thru Ashmita Treks. My guide, Ashwin, was amazing and very professional. He took good care of me and was very polite and informative. The trek started on time, the guide took care of all border paperwork and permits ( you cross into Nepal), and the food was great. The views of Kanchenjunga from Tonglu were fantastic (we had a clear day). I highly recommend Ashmita Treks, as well as the information provided by Mr. Subhash and the caring and professional guide, Mr. Ashwin. You will not be disappointed.
