Before the homestay trek begins, we have a full day of cultural exploration in Darjeeling.There is so much to see in Darjeeling, that one day simply is not enough, but we see as much as we can. Check out the Toy Train, an UNESCO World Heritage site. Also, one cannot leave Darjeeling without tasting its famous tea from one of the many tea plantations. After sipping an energizing cup of tea, it’s time to check out some of the elaborate monasteries and temples in the city.
The following day, we leave for the trek. Traverse through hills and forests, staying in village upon village. Each night you will stay in a rural accommodation. The facilities are simple, yet comfortable and home-like. Eat the local cuisine, which is often more hygienic and organic than food in the cities. Learn how to make some of the foods in the process! Experience the peaceful environment and lovely Nepalese and Sikkamese hospitality. Learn about their history, culture, customs, food, and festivals while staying with them.
