For those with little time and less inclination to undergo the rigours of hard mountain trekking, a trek up to the meadows of Sikkim Kanchenjunga Base Camp Trek in Sikkim will offer the benefits of having experienced a truly spectacular alpine trek within a span of a week (or even less). The trail runs through moss-laden forests of oak, chestnut, pine, maple, magnolia and rhododendron culminating in the meadows of Dzongri at 4,030 meters with exceptional mountain views. It is a naturalist's paradise. These forests harbor hundreds of varieties of wild plants, exotic orchids vie for attention with equally spectacular varieties of birds and butterflies. Some of the animals found along this trail are the Himalayan Black Bear, Barking Deer, Musk Deer, Marbled Cat, Langur and the Red Panda. The program described below is planned for 11 days.

The thrilling trek to Kanchenjunga base camp originates from Yuksom further, it continues towards Tshoka, Bakhim, Dzongri, Laxmi Pokhari, Bikhbari Chaurikhang and Rathong Glacier, Bikhbari and then finally ends at Bakkhim. Within the 11 days expedition, trekkers will enjoy the astounding view of Mt Khangchendzonga (8,586 m), Mt Kokthang (6,148 m), Mt Pandim (6,691 m) and several other peaks in the region.

  • Day 01: Arrival at Bagdogra Airport / NJP train station transport to Yksoom Base Camp of your trek.[1,780m]
  • Day 02: Tshoka - 3,050m. trek: Yuksam to Tshoka - 7 hours ( overnight camping).[3,050m]
  • Day 03: Phedang - 3,760m. trek: Tshoka to Phedang - 4 hours (overnight camping).[3,760m]
  • Day 04: Dzongri - 4,320m. trek: Phedang to Dzongri - 4 hours (overnight camping).[34,320m]
  • Day 05: Dzongri: 4,030m. excursion to Laxmi Pokhari (overnight camping).[4,030m]

Essential Information

What is best seasons for the Sikkim Bigbari Dzongri Trek ? 

In Sikkim Dzongri Goechala in April and May. Mid September to October end is also a good time for the trek – the views during these months are crystal clear. and Dzongri Goechala Trek also called the Rhododendron trek because of its forests of Magnolia and Rhododendrons in are in full bloom.

Are there any electricity charging points on this trek Is there mobile network on this trek ?

Darjeeling to Yuksoom ,is the last place where you’ll get mobile network. Make sure you finish your important telephone calls before reaching Yuksom and Please  inform family members about poor connectivity on the trek. Yuksom, if at all, might have charging points, provided there is electricity. we suggest you to have spare batteries as well.

Your Travel Insurance : 

Travel insurance is mandatory for all clients. Before the client commences a tour he or she must arrange his or her insurance with a reputable insurer, with protection for the full duration of the tour, to cover personal injury, medical expenses, emergency helicopter expenses, repatriation expenses, loss of luggage and the expenses associated with cancellation or curtailment or a tour. If a client becomes ill, all hospital expenses, doctor’s fees and repatriation costs are the client’s responsibilities and the company shall not be liable for any refund of the tour cost. 

Health and fitness :

All tour and treks in Darjeeling and Sikkim demand a sufficient level of fitness, therefore you should check with your doctor concerning your health and fitness before preceding your journey. You have any pre existing medical condition or disability you might increase the risk of you requiring medical attention you need to inform toAshmita Trek and Tours. this may also hamper your ability to travel.
