About Trip
The Poon Hill Trek (also known as the Ghorepani Poonhill Trek or the Annapurna Panorama Trek) is an Annapurna region classic. The short, yet satisfying journey leads up to one of the most famous views in the region – Poon Hill (3210 meters). Get a taste of the local villages, flora and fauna, and mountain views on this lovely trek. It is especially perfect for those who do not have weeks to spend on the trail. You can start the trail and trek up to Poon Hill and back all within one week.
The highlight of the Poon Hill Trek is waking up in Ghorepani at the crack of dawn to see the sun light up the Annapurna and Dhaulagiri region peaks. If waking up early is not your cup of tea, visit for the sunset and be just as amazed. From the Poon Hill viewpoint, become awe-struck by views of Annapurna (8091m), Hiuchuli (6441m), Machhapuchhre (6993m), Dhaulagiri (8167m), Manaslu (8156m), and more. With the reddish orange glow of the sun, the peaks look as if they are on fire – an electrifying sight.
Start the trek in Nayapul after a sweet evening enjoying the lakeside scenery of Pokhara. Follow the BhurungdiKhola and other streams until Ulleri. Along the way, see villagers working in the fertile paddy fields – a photogenic Nepal scene. Climb higher and we are encompassed by forests. In the spring, brilliant rhododendron flowers brighten the trail. You might see langurs swinging from tree to tree as well.
In the early morning, we depart from Ghorepani to get that once-in-a-lifetime peak panorama. The next best part is reaching Ghandruk, the second largest Gurung settlement in Nepal. Wander around the stone streets and be in constant amazement at just how lovely this village is. Watch locals cook food, make handicrafts, and learn about their daily lifestyle. There are two museums we can visit as well. Beyond this, Gurung people represent the rich hospitality and culture of the Nepalese across the country’s mountain area. Trekkers are pleasantly surprised by how humble and genuine the villagers are.
From Ghandruk, continue Birethanti and then back to Pokhara. Celeberate a successful and wonderful trek in Pokhara. Many people fall in love with this relaxed, trekker’s paradise.
The Poon Hill Trek does not lead high into the alpine region and is therefore suitable for trekkers of all experience levels. It’s great for the whole family as well as the budget solo trekker. Join us soon for the Poon Hill Trek!
It is possible to do the Poon Hill Trek throughout the year. The best times, though, are spring (March to May) and fall (September to November). In the springtime, the colorful flowers are blooming. During the fall, the skies are usually clearer. Ashmita Trek and Tours arranges the trek with full management, including transportation, meals, etc. Please do not hesitate to reach out if you have questions!
