Overview

Our Sikkim Singalila Uttarey Round Trek is the ultimate Sikkim trek! The trail passes through two national parks (Singalila National Park and Kanchenjunga National Park) for an epic mountain adventure. The path even traverses the famous Goecha la (5002 meters / 16,410 feet). Throughout the trail, witness unbelievable landscapes and meet some of the most hospitable people on the planet. Be in constant amazement during the Sikkim Singalila Uttarey Round Trek.

Enter the magical land of crystal clear lakes, colorful forests, unique animals, and pristine mountain peaks for the adventure of a lifetime. The relatively recently developed trail begins in the quaint village of Uttarey and continues to Goechala via the Singalila ridge. Despite its extraordinary beauty, the trek is still seldom visited by foreigners. In fact, most of the people who use the trail are yak herders of Sikkim. Enjoy a feeling of peace and solitude in this wilderness-like area.

From Uttarey, follow the ancient trading trail up through agricultural fields and forests. Walk towards and along the border of Nepal and India, where some of the highest mountains in the world exist. It is humbling to stand next to these peaks, which soar nearly to the heavens.

Within a couple of days on the trail, you are already walking through the high alpine meadows of Chiwa Bhanjyang. Continue further and traverse two high alpine passes, each with their own distinct perspective. From Dzongri, begin the trek towards Goechala, yet another unbelievable Himalayan viewpoint. Find yourself above most of the world. The only places higher than you are within eyeshot. You’ll have views of Kanchenjunga (8586m), Talung (7349m), Kabru (7353m). Then, descend to Yukam to finish the trek. Enjoy some sightseeing here and in Pelling – a special way to end the trek.

The Sikkim Singalila Uttarey Round Trek is a once-in-a-lifetime experience. One thing that makes it so special is that it is a circuit trail. You will not see the same thing twice, and each moment on the trail is a surprise. Join us on this incredible Himalayan adventure!

It is possible to do the Sikkim Singalila Uttarey Round Trek throughout the year. The best times, though, are spring (March to May) and fall (September to November).
