Full Tour Description

The day hike near Darjeeling Valley calls for a 6 am wakeup time, and you will return to Darjeeling around 5 pm. Leaving the hotel, we drive 2.5 hours through Manebhanjyang to Dhotrey (8,500 feet). Enchanted by the colourful rhododendrons and forest flowers, we get off at Dhotrey full of excitement. Dhotrey is a scenic village perched among the terraced hillsides. Here, we have a filling breakfast and begin the journey through the dense forests to Tonglu (10,130 feet), which lies 6km from Dhotrey. Tonglu provides the best views of the trek. On a clear day, you can see two of the three highest peaks in the world (Mount Everest Family and Kanchenjunga). Bring your camera, because you might never get such dramatic mountain views like this again!

After savouring a nutritious local meal at Tonglu, we set off on our trek. The trail takes us downhill through Meghma, where we can visit the Buddhist monastery before continuing the hike to the village of Lamhaydhura. Here, a small community of local mountain residents resides. We take a brief tea break before resuming our journey. Chitrey is our final destination, approximately 9 kilometres from Tonglu. Upon arrival, we meet our driver and set out for Darjeeling, a one-hour drive, carrying with us cherished memories of our Tonglu day hike.

Truly special trekking. I did a one day, and the whole team were hugely professional, they kept in contact via WhatsApp before and then guided me through a magical day. We stopped along the way for warming food and chai, and the warmth of local hospitality. Can’t recommend these guys enough!!

We went to Darjeeling last month during a 3-week trip to India. Since its difficult to take a hike directly from the city and we were only staying in Darjeeling for 5 days we were looking for day treks. we found Ashmita because of its good reviews and after doing the day trek with them I can definitely confirm that the reviews are accurate! We had a wonderful trip with our guide Ashwin who answered all the questions we had and took great care of us as well as our driver Dipu, who really made sure that we would get safely to the trek and back to Darjeeling (even though we had very heavy fog on the way back). Overall I would 100% recommend Ashmita Trek and Tours as they not only took good care of us, but they're also good value for money.

This trek in one word offers you the best of trekking and enjoying the views. We started at 6 am from our hotel. Our driver Dipu and guide Robin Rai are an excellent combination. They all cd converse in English, and look after your needs at all times. All was explained at the beginning ie the trek wd start after Manebhanjan from Dhotrey where we had breakfast with chappati and Sabzee and tea and omelette. Washroom made available. Then a trek upwards to the Tonglu peak for 6 km. A walking stick is recommended. That is the Indo-Nepal border. We had tea from the homestay all arranged by the guide, Rabin.
Then the trek was basically downhill for 9 km. Lunch from another homestay as arranged by Robin was Hakka Veg Chow which was freshly done and yummy. We could not see Kanchenjunga as it was very cloudy. But the trek was a unique experience. We had lots of Black tea at each stop. A washroom is available at each stop. We came down to Chitrey at Manebhanjan. So a superb trek with a superb guide Rabin Rai.
